Processing conditions of R200P

considerations

Due to variations in screw design, heat efficiency, etc. according to types of facilities, optimal conditions for each facility may differ. Therefore , the optimal temperature conditions for each facility must be taken into consideration depending on extruding pressure, cooling efficiency, changes in MI of the final product, appearances of the final product, etc.

Extrusion for pipes

To meet the impact strength and creep strength required for PP-R pipe, R200P has a very low melt index. Therefore special care
is required when deciding adequate extrusion conditions. Because of the low melt index of R200P, extruding pressure can substantially increase during extrusion and mixing efficiency of Color M/B may be decrease.
In addition, because Random PP has a characteristic of cooling down slowly, cooling conditions must be strengthened for achieving normal production speed. Rheology data of PP-R offers much information about the flow of PP under stress. It is also useful in deciding optimal processing conditions. Hyosung is eager to supply detailed rheology data upon customer request.

Recommended processing condition.

  • Cylinder feeding zone    160 - 180℃
  • Cylinder melting zone    180 - 210℃
  • Cylinder metering (mixing) zone 180 - 220℃
  • Head    180 - 220℃
  • Die     180 - 220℃
  • Cooling Bath 20 - 30℃
  • Extrusion for pipes

    Injection moulding for fittings

The most important factor in Injection moulding of fitting is to secure the optimal mold design for the flow of PP-R resin, which is characterized by very low MI. Excessive stress applied to melted R200P can result in rough surface areas in the final products or otherwise damaged products. Therefore, it is important to apply as less stress as possible at the optimal temperature.
  • Cylinder / Nozzle 180 - 240℃
  • Cylinder metering (mixing) zone 180 - 220℃
  • Back Pressure Sink Mark should be set so sink marks do not appear
  • Mold Cooling Temperature 30 - 50℃
  • Injection moulding for fittings
